2.5/5 First, the server we had was great! The food was definitely not “made from scratch with local ingredients” as the menu describes. For the prices, the quality is just not where it needs to be. The Mac & Cheese was good, but the noodles were from a box (we asked). Still, tasty. The kitchen really struggled with the clams. Five of them were still closed when served. Not sure how that is allowed to leave the kitchen like that. The server was awesome, and she asked for fresh clams, and this time only two were under cooked but the reduction was burnt. Maybe a bad night for the clams? The stroganoff was fine, but again boxed noodles. Not from scratch, big chunks of fat (pictured), not really worth the $27. The server comped the clams, which was very generous. Seems like a tug of war between brewery food and fine dining, but the brewery is definitely winning and the food is losing.

They were not that busy but it took an eternity to get seated and to get our orders in and to finally eat. They were not apologetic to my surprise, I thought it would be worth the wait, but we were both disappointed with our brunch and it was far too pricey for what it was. My bf got chicken and waffles and the waffles were tasteless + undercooked and the chicken was too salty. We also found the chicken was actually chicken sausage so that was our fault for not researching earlier. The atmosphere though was nice but it did not meet our standards for food and service. Overall, we would not recommend this as a brunch spot.

The food is really good here. It looks like they take time and make sure an item is done right before putting it on the menu. The beer offerings were decent and they have a nice selection of mixed drinks.

Avenues Proper unfortunately gets about a 3.4. I have been a couple of times, and after this last time I just can't justify those prices for this food. It all looks great and high quality, but it has gone downhill over the last year. Atmosphere is great, it's an awesome place inside and has friendly staff, but food is just not worth it and not very good for what you pay. My burger by itself (w/ bacon which was average bacon) was a $20 burger. The bun was awesome and well toasted, the only real highlight for me, but everything else was very mediocre. A decent beef patty, too lightly seasoned, nothing worth $20 to be found on there. The Beef Stroganoff is $26, yes $26, and one of the most underwhelming flavors of any pasta dish I've ever had. It has minimum amount of beef, super light sauce, and small portion. Don't let the Fancy Frittes picture fool you on crispiness. The fries were cut unproportionally which makes the cook different on all of them, and they were very soft. The best part is the garlic aioli they serve it with, but I was disappointed because I even asked for a little extra well done on the fries. I really think it is an overpriced restaurant right now and I do not recommend it.

The location of this quaint restaurant is sublime. It’s nestled in the middle of the avenues close to LDS hospital. We were hoping to sit outside in the patio but the weather didn’t cooperate. Inside was a rustic industrial feel and a little dark. Ordered biscuit appetizer, French toast with a side of eggs and the frittata. The biscuits were over cooked and has a crunchy outside, the jam was amazing, French toast looked soo pretty on the plate, however it was a little chewy, the scrambled eggs weren’t cooked all the way through but was replaced with new eggs, and the frittata was filling and great. All in all it wasn’t superior by any means the atmosphere was great though.

Okay so we tried to go to Avenue’s Proper three times & finally got in!!! No wait on a Thursday night, which was fortunate. We sat on the bar side. Our waitress was great, very helpful & attentive. We tried a few cocktails: The Proper Daily & the Pomegranate Margarita. Both were really good! I always love me a good margarita! We grabbed two appetizers, the Pommes Frites (basics fries) with the best proper beer aioli sauce!! It was delicious! We also tried the brussel sprouts. For some reason in my head, these were not going to be shredded, even though the menu is clear that they are. The dried cherries were a great touch to this appetizer. Food wise, I didn’t feel like they had great vegetarian options except like a veggie burger or a salad. I ended up getting the carbonara pasta, minus the bacon. The pepper was really strong & overwhelming for me with this dish. My friend wanted salmon but with Valentine’s Day a few days before we went, they were fresh out of both the fish & chips & the Atlantic salmon option so he opted for the chicken & waffles which ended up being really good. We also had a puddling type coffee dessert. I can’t remember what it was called & it was okay but I probably wouldn’t get it again. There was a jello texture to the middle layer. It was different. I was more excited to try this place, then I felt leaving. It was cute & I’m glad I got to try it with all the hype I hear about it.

Avenues Proper was a wonderful restaurant. I got the Steak Frites and it was good. I’ve gotten the Avenues Proper Burger in the past and they make one incredible hamburger. The bibimbap was very tasty and is a dish not found at many restaurants. Our server was nice and we really enjoyed the overall experience.
